Your baby’s first year will fly by. So much happens in such a short time, and they change so much in just 365 days! The Grow With Me plan is great way to capture your baby’s important milestones during their first year.
When you book a newborn session with Christine Hsieh Photography, you may be a bit unsure of which collection you are most interested in, and you may have questions about the Grow With Me plan as well. That’s totally understandable, and that is why you don’t choose your newborn collection until you see your online proofing gallery after your session. At that time, you have to option to purchase a newborn collection, or you may opt into the Grow With Me plan.
The Grow With Me first year plan starts with the newborn session. Newborn sessions are scheduled for babies up to 2 weeks new but babies up to 6 weeks can be photographed in the studio under the newborn session pricing. Opting for an in home newborn session? The same rules apply. In those first couple of weeks, babies are still sleepy and curl up cozily most easily. At 3 weeks+, they have an amazing ability to be nosy and stay awake with their newfound curiosity in a different environment.
Family and sibling photos are included for most newborn collection options. The Swaddle Me one hour newborn session is the only session option that is for baby only with a smaller number of sets included. The other three regular newborn session options all include sibling, family, and parent poses along with props or table poses. The online booking questionnaire of the booking process allows you to tell Christine all of your preferences for what you’d like included in your session, the colors you prefer, whether you like layers and textures or more of a minimalistic approach to your baby’s session. It’s all up to you, and the studio will be set up and ready to go when you arrive the morning of your scheduled session.
Next up in the Grow With Me plan is the 6 month session. This age is SO MUCH FUN! Some babies are sitting up on their own and some are not. That’s ok. There are plenty of props in the studio so that we can help baby sit upright and give great variety to your photos at this age.
The 6 month session is usually the shortest session of all three due to the smaller window of time where baby is happy and smiley before becoming overstimulated and needing a break or to end the session. We arrange outfits and backdrops ahead of time so that we know exactly what we’re doing when you arrive. Outfit changes are pretty quick since we have a set plan, and no time is wasted capturing cuteness!
And last but not least is the first birthday cake smash session! A simple white cake is included with your session. If you prefer a specific themed cake or your baby has food allergies, you may bring your own cake. There is also the option to use a fake cake in the studio if you prefer a mess-free/allergy free set up. There are two different options to choose from if you prefer a fake cake.
The first part of the session includes family and sibling photos if requested, then your little one gets their own portrait set for some traditional photos.
The cake is the finale to cap off their first year! As with the 6 month session, all planning is done ahead of time. You’ll send Christine photos of the outfits you plan to bring, and you’ll land on a cake smash set up along with selecting your baby’s simple portrait backdrop. There is a client closet available in the studio that you may borrow outfits from the day of your session, or you may bring your own. The client closet outfits range from 6-18 months and are laundered after each use.
Your baby’s cake smash set up can be made with one of the backdrops already available in the studio, or a custom set up can be made. Don’t want balloons? No problem. Want a custom balloon garland? We can probably make that happen! All of these details are finalized at least 1-2 weeks prior to your session. Cake smashes can get messy, so here’s a cute way to clean up at the end! We’ll fill the bath tub with some soapy water, splash a little bit, and squeeze out a few more minutes of smiles and fun before the session ends. A clean towel is always available in the studio in case you decide to add this to the end of your baby’s cake smash. It’s not required, and if you prefer to just wipe down for a quick clean up, that is fine too! Wet wash cloths and wipes are always available for clean up. And don’t worry about the rest of the clean up after it’s all over. Christine takes care of that!
